Home Journals and Updates

Home Journals have been sent home with many students this week. If you do not see one in your child's backpack it may be because students did not have their duotangs with them at school. If they could please bring them to school on Monday, we can put their letter in so that it stays neatly inside. If you do not know where the Home Journal is please let me know so that we can create a new one for students. We will be working on Home Journals on Friday, December 13th. Next week, students will be inline skating on December 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Identity Box Update

Identity Boxes Update We will be working on compiling our identity boxes early next week. Many students have not yet brought in their items to place into their identity boxes. We appreciate your help with allowing your student to bring in or send a photograph as well as a few artifacts that represent their values and interests.  Students need to bring these in by next Monday in order to complete this activity.

We have started reading The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. Students are welcome to sign out their own copies from our school Learning Commons or the Calgary Public Library so that they can follow along if they like.

Animal Adaptations

Here is a resource on animal adaptations: Animal Adaptations
Book Fair Sales begin tomorrow. Students can purchase books or posters if they would like to.

Identity Boxes

Identity Boxes Dear Families, We are creating identity boxes as part of our learning in Social Studies. As part of this task, students are invited to bring in one or two artifacts that represent their identity and values, which we have been reflecting on, as well as a family photo. If you would prefer to send a digital copy of a photo to me, please feel free to email it to shmawani@cbe.ab.ca Examples of artifacts include: - A natural object (seashell, rock) - A small craft - A miniature model of something meaningful - A miniature flag - A small toy Objects should reflect the values of students. Along with the objects and photograph, students will include art work and a piece of writing that we are developing together. Thank you for your support with this learning activity! Sincerely, Ms. Mawani
Inline Skating Dates: December 3rd, 4th and 5th at 10:20 am
We are learning about helping others as part of Social Studies. Our grade three classes will be collecting food donations for the Veterans Food Bank. Please feel free to bring in non-perishable food items.
We are creating identity boxes and need shoe boxes to do this. Right now we only have 12 boxes. Please bring in boxes if you have them. Please bring in flyers for a math activity.
Thanks to those who have returned their Inline Skating Consent Forms. If you haven't, please return them asap. We are learning how to write about our opinions. Please sign up for a Parent Teacher Conference later this week once the booking system opens.
We earned our second set of brownie points so we will be having a pajama day on Monday.
