Google Classroom Information

Hello Families, Our Google Classroom is almost ready to go and our class code will be sent out by  Monday  afternoon!  Students, please check your ____@educbe.ca account on Monday. Here are some useful links to help you become familiar with our virtual classroom: Getting started How to turn in an assignment Once you have access to our classroom, the  week of April 6-10  learning plans will have been uploaded.  Please have the activities submitted  by 9 am the following Monday .  For example, next week's assignments will be due by Monday, April 13th.      As a grade team, we tried our best to keep these lessons simple and easy to follow.  Some of the activities can be printed out if you'd like to do so.  If you don't have access to a printer, that's okay!  We tried our best to make the templates easy to replicate with pencil and paper. Thank you so much for having a growth mindset as we take our first steps in learning from home.  Please know that

Today's Google Meet

Hi Students! Today we will be having our first Google Meet. It will be a chance for us to check in and see each other! I have sent out the link to our meeting, so please test it out at around 11:55 to make sure it works. I'll be waiting and our meeting will start at 12:00 pm. Since there will be so many of us on at once, it would be great if you could mute your microphones so that the meeting runs smoothly. I'll show you around the Google Meet screen and then everyone will have a chance to say hello. Google Meet does not allow everyone to see each other all at once. It only displays the speaker and three other participants at a time. If you would like to see all of the participants at once, please download the Google Chrome extension called Grid View to be able to do so. Click here for the extension. This extension is optional and not necessary. I look forward to seeing you all today!

Hello Families!

Hello Grade 3 Families, Please keep an eye out for an email from me this afternoon outlining some of the next steps for learning adventures. I will also be phoning you over the next few days to check in and respond to any questions you may have from the email.  You need to know that you are missed at school but we are really excited about what lies ahead for us, and we will be sharing details with you through this coming week.

Building Stable Paper Vases

Image
Here's a look at some of our paper vases that we created out of paper towel rolls. Our task was to make them more stable by using found materials. Students worked in groups of 3-4 and experimented with giving their bases more weight using marbles, plasticine, cardboard and more. Hello Families!

Image
Hello Families, I hope you are all keeping well! The class was buzzing just last week and now it is completely silent and it feels quite strange. It is not the same without students, but in times like this, it is a reminder that we will find ways to adapt to the challenges we are facing! You are part of a historical time and this situation is one that we don't have all the solutions for just yet, but I believe there will be some creative thinkers around the world, some would call them global citizens, who will find them...maybe you are one of them! I'm thinking of all of you and miss you a lot! If you would like some ideas or suggestions on what you can do at home, please take a look at the CBE's Learning at Home website found here . Oh, and if you can think of anything that will save Ronnie and Rosie from their boredom at home, let me know. Sincerely, Ms. Mawani

This Week at School

Parent Teacher Conferences have been cancelled next week. Please keep an eye out for our Principal's blog which will have more information over the coming weeks. This week at school, we learned more about multiplication and arrays in particular. We created Array Cities to represent our understanding of equal groups. We will post our work when we are finished. We also continued learning about Global Citizenship by discussing groups that have created positive changes for girls and women. The Famous Five and Skateistan are among those that have done this important work. In Science we continue to explore shapes and experiment with making objects more stable and supportive. Students worked in small groups to create paper vases.
