Home Journals and Updates

Home Journals have been sent home with many students this week. If you do not see one in your child's backpack it may be because students did not have their duotangs with them at school. If they could please bring them to school on Monday, we can put their letter in so that it stays neatly inside. If you do not know where the Home Journal is please let me know so that we can create a new one for students.


We will be working on Home Journals on Friday, December 13th.


Next week, students will be inline skating on December 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Guided and Home Reading

We have been working at guided reading activity stations this week. Ask your student which ones they worked at. Students are encouraged to read for at least twenty minutes each evening to reinforce reading strategies that we are developing in class. They should be selecting books of interest from our Hawkwood Learning Commons, and also have access to Raz Kids for reading material. It is always helpful for students to read aloud to an adult to develop their fluency and get help with decoding and understanding unfamiliar words.
