Teachers Convention is on February 13th and 14th and Family Day is on February 17th.
School will resume on February 18th.

This afternoon we discussed classroom voice levels and student expectations as there was some off task behaviour and interruptions taking place while our buddies helped us with an art activity. This will be something that we work on in the coming weeks.

Students are asked to take their personal belongings such as winter clothing, lunchkits and homework with them at the end of each day. There were many items left behind at the end of day today.

Math homework is due on Tuesday, February 18th.

Guided and Home Reading

We have been working at guided reading activity stations this week. Ask your student which ones they worked at. Students are encouraged to read for at least twenty minutes each evening to reinforce reading strategies that we are developing in class. They should be selecting books of interest from our Hawkwood Learning Commons, and also have access to Raz Kids for reading material. It is always helpful for students to read aloud to an adult to develop their fluency and get help with decoding and understanding unfamiliar words.
