Global Citizens: Viola Desmond and Rosa Parks

We have been learning about global citizens Viola Desmond and Rosa Parks. Here are some resources about these two change makers. Viola Desmond: Heritage Minute Canadian Civil Rights Champion Rosa Parks: Civil Rights Pioneer
Teachers Convention is on February 13th and 14th and Family Day is on February 17th. School will resume on February 18th. This afternoon we discussed classroom voice levels and student expectations as there was some off task behaviour and interruptions taking place while our buddies helped us with an art activity. This will be something that we work on in the coming weeks. Students are asked to take their personal belongings such as winter clothing, lunchkits and homework with them at the end of each day. There were many items left behind at the end of day today. Math homework is due on Tuesday, February 18th.

Pajama and Stuffy Day

Tomorrow we can wear pajamas and bring stuffies to school because we made it to 20 brownie points! We will also be celebrating with art, a literacy activity, buddies and more!

Students chose the joiner they wanted to use: either marshmallows, plasticine or puffed wheat. Pictures coming soon. We also learned how to be safe while testing and building and created safety comic strips to share some tips with others. In Math, we continued learning mental math strategies like the compensation strategy. While reading The One and Only Ivan, we came to a really exciting (but not so great for Mack) part and are looking forward to finding out what happens to Ruby and Ivan. We think they are going to a zoo, which will be better for them than the Exit 8 Big Top Mall. While reading we've been making inferences using our background knowledge and clues from the text. This week, we will be participating in a service project to support a charity that will help wildlife in Aus
