In Class This Week...

Our class ran 100 laps altogether to finish Terry's Marathon of Hope today.

In class we have been reading Owls in the Family by Farley Mowatt and are practicing the comprehension strategy, visualization. Take a look at some of our learning below:
























We have also been learning about needs and wants are and will be exploring how this relates to our who we are (our identity) and our quality of life.

In Math, we continue to learn how to compare and order numbers to 1000. We discussed when it is necessary to compare and order numbers in our daily lives. We also played some games related to this including place value war and stomp. We will continue practicing how to order numbers to 1000 using number lines and with other visuals.

Guided and Home Reading

We have been working at guided reading activity stations this week. Ask your student which ones they worked at. Students are encouraged to read for at least twenty minutes each evening to reinforce reading strategies that we are developing in class. They should be selecting books of interest from our Hawkwood Learning Commons, and also have access to Raz Kids for reading material. It is always helpful for students to read aloud to an adult to develop their fluency and get help with decoding and understanding unfamiliar words.
