We learned about Orange Shirt Day and the story of Phyllis Jack Webstad. We also read the story, When We Were Alone which was about residential schools.

Our class ran 100 laps altogether to finish Terry's Marathon of Hope today. In class we have been reading Owls in the Family by Farley Mowatt and are practicing the comprehension strategy, visualization. Take a look at some of our learning below: We have also been learning about needs and wants are and will be exploring how this relates to our who we are (our identity) and our quality of life. In Math, we continue to learn how to compare and order numbers to 1000. We discussed when it is necessary to compare and order numbers in our daily lives. We also played some games related to this including place value war and stomp. We will continue practicing how to order numbers to 1000 using number lines and with other visuals.

We are learning about the needs of animals. We viewed The Salamander Room by Anne Mazer and discussed the needs of an animal and how it's natural habitat provides it with the food, water, shelter and space that it needs. Tomorrow we have an assembly to learn more about our involvement with the Calgary Opera .

Welcome to Grade 3! We're off to an awesome start to the 2019-2020 school year. Our learning activities have included creating our classroom culture, getting used to routines, observing our mealworms, and participating in building challenges.
